How do I register on GainesvilleMoms.com?

When I register, why do I need to log into the forums again?
You should only have to do this the first time you register and log in. The forums are actually on a different system and server, so once you register with GainesvilleMoms.com you will need to log into the forums to initiate your account.
But once you do this the first time you register, if your system is set to allow cookies, then GainesvilleMoms.com will recognize you right away. Simply visit the forums, if you're not logged in just click the link and chat away. This may sound complicated, but once you do it one time, you'll be all set. Trust us.

What are cookies?
They are tiny text files that get placed on your hard drive by a server, in this case our's. It's kind of like your ID, but will not harm your computer in any way or deliver viruses. It is unique to you, and can only be read by the server that gave it to you. So when you come back to GainesvilleMoms.com, we see that cookie and recognize you immediately. It's safe and very useful for frequent visitors.
How do I browse conversations?
There are several ways to browse conversations at GainesvilleMoms.com. We've tried out best to divide up the site in a sensible way that makes it easy for you to find answers and discussions you care about.
The site is divided into categories. Categories then hold forums. Forums are where you can start a new discussion or join one. You can start a discussion from anywhere in our forums (http://talk.GainesvilleMoms.com) just by hitting the New folder in the navigation and selecting the category and forum you'd like your new discussion to fall into. If you are in a specific forum, by default the system will add your new discussion to that forum. For instance:

How do I upload photos?
Our photo album tool is built into our forums, so you'd create an album just like you'd create a discussion post. Here are the steps to creating a photo album:

Click on the appropriate album forum. We strive to make things simple and not overwhelm you with choices. The goal is activity. But if you have an idea that might work, feel free to email us at online@gvillesun.com. To start there are three album forums: Holiday, family, and general. Enter the appropriate forum.
Click on the "New" tab below and select "Photo Album".
Fill out the album information. Be sure to select an appropriate category. This will allow us to display a thumbnail of your gallery throughout the site.
Browse for the photos on your machine. For larger albums, we suggest uploading one zip file.
Fill in the title and caption fields.
You're done! Be sure to share your photos with friends and family!
How do I upload videos?
Uploading videos is simple. In order to upload your videos, we require simple registration to make it possible. It's not hard to do, but required with our video hosting company. You can register and upload right from our video page. All the instructions are on our video page.

How do I advertise on GainesvilleMoms.com?
To advertise on GainesvilleMoms.com, simply e-mail online@gvillesun.com. GainesvilleMoms.com does not allow solicitation of any kind on our forums. We realize sometimes there is a fine line between offering advice and promoting a local business. But if that business is yours, or you are connected to it in any way, then our moderator will have to step in. Any questions, please contact online@gvillesun.com.
How do I report a member abusing myself or another member?
If you find a post abusive in any way, of if you feel someone is personally attacking you in an improper manner, you can report a post that will alert our moderator. In the bottom right corner of every forum post, you will see a triangular icon with an exclamation mark. Click this icon and provide an explanation.
It is then the job of the moderator to make the call on whether the reported post should be removed and if the poster should be reprimanded. Again, this is a lightly moderated forum that relies on the community
How safe is the environment at GainesvilleMoms.com?
While we strive to make GainesvilleMoms.com a safe environment for moms, we ultimately do not know who you are communicating with on our forums. Therefore, we suggest you refrain from posting personal information such as addresses and phone numbers. Also please be cautious about how much personal information you divulge about your child.
How do I change the username or password I registered with?
Right now you can change your password by using this link.
You must be logged in to change your forum nickname. When you change your forum nickname, you must wait 30 minutes before the change takes over, or log out of the forums and log back in.

How can other members send me private emails through this site?
Within our forums we do offer private messaging. If you'd like to send someone a private message, click on their name within the forums and view their profile. Click on the link "Send this user a Private Message." This is all done within the forum environment. You will see an icon at the top of the forums telling you of a private message, or "PM." Personal e-mail is never used in PM-ing.
How do I search the forums to see if my topic has been replied to?
On the top of each forum thread, you will see a "Find" button. You can search for anything in the forums by keyword, advanced search, new posts since your last visit, and active topics in the forum category you are currently in. You can search the forums by your screename, and see all the replies to your latest post.
Are the forums moderated?
The forums are lightly moderated by the GainesvilleMoms.com editor Kristi Palma. She reserves the right to delete posts that break the rules. She will also issue warnings, suspensions and expulsions to those who violate the rules.

Please visit http://events.gainesvillemoms.com/user/login. You will be prompted to register or log in. Our event calendar uses a different system and server, so you will need to register with Events.GainesvilleMoms.com the first time you add an event. Once you do this the first time you register, if your browser is set to allow cookies, then Events.GainesvilleMoms.com will recognize you right away.
