New to Gainesville, please help?

Hello, my name is Chelsea and I currently am 18 and I live in central Ohio. Around mid-July I will be moving, all by myself, to Gainesville to attend Santa Fe's zoology program. I am scared to death to move and live by myself as you can imagine, espcially since I will know absolutly no one. I figured while searching the internest for ways to get to better know things about Gainesville or people there I would have to sign up for one of those free dating sites, but I really did not want to do that. I ran across this website and figured, who else would give me better, safer, tips about Gainesville than the moms who have familes and who live there. My major concern right now is picking a good apartment complex to move into. I am not a party girl whats-so-ever, and I do not want to move into one of the major party apartments. But being that I dont live there, I dont know which ones are good and which ones are bad. If any of you have any suggestions for any good, safe places I should check out, please let me know! Or if you have just any advise period about how to meet people quickly or if there is good or bad areas of town or just anything that a new 18-year-old resident should know, that would be amazing!
