A place for moms to connect
So what do you all think about these books? Are they way too sexist, or do you think people are overreacting? Do these books send the wrong message to young children (girls are pretty, boys are smart)?

They do have a message, if you don't want to allow your child to read them, then don't allow them to read them, but what little girl doesn't want to feel gorgeous? If you question that, maybe you should look at any magazine rack in the grocery store! How many female geared magazines have a beautiful woman on the cover who is sharing her secret of how to be beautiful or skinny or lose those baby pounds? Being pretty isn't a bad thing, just as being clever isn't a bad thing. I know that we can all agree that this is not the only message that kids get. It is up to us parents to make sure that they get the right messages at the right times.

And the other book doesn't say it's just for boys, it just shows a picture of a boy. It might be an unintended gender bias, but nobody is stopping parents from buying it for their girls.
