Gainesville Moms

A place for moms to connect

Hi! My name is Allison, and currently I live in Missouri. My family and I will be moving to Gainesville in late May.
What neighborhoods are appropriate, and does anyone suggest a real estate firm with rentals?
Also, I go to college and attend summer courses. I will be in need of a sitter! I am so anxious. I don't know anyone, and my husband will be working. Does anyone have any advice, or know anyone? I have looked at this site and like the vibes I got, so I thought you would be helpful :)

Thanks for all your help!!

Allison :)

Hi Allison!! My fiance and I are life long residents of Gainesville, so we pretty much know the lay of the land fairly well! We are currently house shopping right now and an AMAZING realtor is Linda Thomas with Bosshardt Realty. She has been so helpful every step of the way, we have changed ideas, wants and rooms numbers a couple of times and each time she has been so gracious and emailed us an number of listings within the part of town we wanted to be in along with tons of places not only within our price range but tries to work with everyone to possibly get them down in our price range if we really like the place. I would definitely give them a call, she has been so helpful! If you will be taking classes at UF I would say the Archer road area is great, but if not at UF I would definitely say the Tower Road up into Haile Plantation and Town of Tioga are great, they are more around the NW part of town and have tons to do with farmers markets and parks all over the place with tons of working professionals between 26-40ish being the majority of the people. We have loved looking in that area because of walking trails for us and our puppy as well as family one day when we have one. It is definitely a great area and Linda is a wonderful realtor.

As for sitters, I know a ton a sitters between my local church as well as students I worked with. Definitely let me know if you have any questions. My email is carolinefwhite@gmail.com

Hello

Welcome to town (soon!).   My husband and I live in Kingswood (on the corner of 8th and 43rd; I know this means nothing to you right now, but your realtor will =)  and we LOVE it.  I always tell everyone we live in the 1950s.  Kids play outside and everyone waves.

Good luck with the move!

Hello,

I am a stay at mother of a 17 yr old and a 8 yr old. I have been a full time nanny in my home the entire time my own kids have grown up. Right now I have two children in my care full time. I am looking to add to my schedule. The two little ones I watch are 23 months and 15 months. One of the mom's is also an Alachua County Teacher and the other a UF student. One of the boys I have had since he was 3 months old and the other I have had since June of 2011.

I have had plenty of experience with children from birth to well 17 =). I can offer flexible times and days as your schedule may need. My one baby gets here at 630 am due to his mother being a teacher, so if your schedule needed to be the same it would be ok =)

I pride myself on the care I provide and safe enviroment. I always take the time to teach through play, reading, and age appropriate arts and crafts etc. One of the boys in my care brings his lunch and snacks as he's a picky eater, the other I provide hot lunches and snacks as I love to cook. My daughter is a vegan/vegetarian (depending on the day of the week lol) so I also have those types of food too.

If this is an option you would like to discuss further, please do not hesitate to email me krystalgirl75@yahoo.com.

Thanks for your time!!
Kimberly
