Hi Angela! Welcome to GainesvilleMoms! And congrats on your new little one on the way! I am also expecting my second in June. I have a almost 4-year-old daughter and am due with another little girl in June. Like you, we still haven't picked out a name. :-) Hope to meet you and your family at some of our events!

I am new to the group as well! My name is Stephanie and I am actually a law student graduating in May. My daughter Emma is almost 5 months, and although I thankfully don't have to work full-time yet, I will be studying for the bar with a 7 month old! (Please feel free to pass along any advice on how to survive this process, Angela!) I hope to practice in a field that helps children (dependency, adoption, etc.) but we'll see in a few months. My husband is a pediatric resident at UF Shands, so our whole world is kids right now!

I'm looking forward to getting to know more local moms and getting involved in the family side of the Gainesville community!

Welcome Stephanie! It sounds like you are going to have your hands full! We have a great groups of moms on the site who are always available to offer support and encouragement! Hope to meet you and your little one soon!

Well, Stephanie, if nothing else, you'll have your hands full this summer! But I'm sure it will all work out just fine. As you've probably heard before, the Bar isn't that terrible as long as you put the time in to study. I structured my studies like a job...studied during business hours and maybe a couple hours on the weekends but the rest of the time was for my family.

Will you be staying in Gainesville? Before I went into private practice, I spent several years at the State Attorney's Office and then doing criminal defense work in town. Several of my friends are currently working in child related legal fields, like DCF or the juvenile division at the defender's office, etc. Let me know if you ever need anything and if I can, I'd be happy to help!

Thanks for the advice, Angela. Thankfully I've worked with DCF Children's Legal in one capacity or another for awhile, so I'm just hoping for an opening after I take the Bar. We'll see what happens between now and then, but thanks so much for the help - I'll keep you posted on how things go later this year!
