Kindergartner Suspended Over Bubble Gun Threat
A kindergartener was suspended for 10 days (which was later reduced to 2) when she told a friend they should shoot each other with bubbles. The family of a child is considering suing the school to get the blemish off of the child's permanent record.

I know my sister mentioned an incident a year or two ago where an elementary student brought a weapon in to school. Do a quick Google search, and you will find that there are many MANY incidents of YOUNG children bringing weapons to school. Quickly scanning a few articles I brought up, there was a 9 year old, 11 year old and 12 year old that all brought guns in to their school. In fact in one of the articles, the parents supposedly encouraged their child to bring the gun to school for protection after Sandy Hook.
Without actually being present, we don't know what the teacher actually heard the child say. And, let's face it, there are 5 year olds that are around guns and other weapons at their home and could potentially get a hold of one and bring it in to school. So do I believe the school overreacted? Perhaps, if we look at this particular situation by itself they overreacted. However, this school is really only giving society what it keeps asking for...responsibility and accountability. Every time something like Sandy Hook or the like happens, the community gets angry at the parents and the school and wonders how things were allowed to go so far. How did they not know he was going to do this? How was he allowed to make that threat and get away with it? Well, now nobody is able to make anything that sounds like a threat without feeling the backlash of the school system as they try and cover their own tails.
