High School Senior Banned From Graduation for Taking Care of Cancer-Stricken Mom
A 17-year-old has been banned from walking across stage during graduation because he missed too much school. But the kicker is that the boy was taking care of his mother, who has stage IV lung cancer. PLUS, he was having to hold down two jobs!

Not only should he be able to walk, they should also give him a hero's award! Not many teenagers these days would be that responsible and that caring. Kudos to this kid!!!!!!

That's just awful that they would ban him from participating in his graduation. Talk about kicking someone when he's down. They could let him walk.

Terribly sad situation. My big question is why wasn't this handled BEFORE now when graduation is an issue. Not saying it is his fault! The fault lies with the counselors and teachers who have obviously noticed he was missing so much school. Why didn't anyone step in to see WHY he was missing school? If they did that then WHY didn't they use a social worker to help with his situation? Seems like a lot of system failure here.
