Gainesville Moms

A place for moms to connect

We are coming from Buffalo, NY to Gainesville, Florida. We don't have any young kids, ours are grown, one married, one serving with the US Navy and one in college, but we will have 3 grandkids that will visit regularally. I'm wondering if you can recommend an apartment complex that maybe away from the College.  We are looking for short term while we house shop.

Magnolia Place is nice....it's off of NW 39th Avenue

im a mom and Realtor with EXIT. we have a full rental management staff and could help set you up to view your options on line. you can email me at kd.anderson27@gmail.com and i'll pass your infor on to an agent who can help you. No charge.

Kathy too bad your people didn't attempt contact. We went with another recommendation from Moms. Are sorry we did. Magnolia managent not up to par didn't even inspect apartment before giving us the keys. There were over 50 holes in the wall, livingroom so far. bucket under sink for garbage disposal, blinds not in working order. No threshold front door. doors for washer/dryer closet aret installed. Blinds have broken gears will not open or close. It was supposed to be professionally cleaned, husband went and bought air freshner trees today for apartment. Water has a stench to it (so much for filtration system ad said it has). No keys for garage which is included. no granite countertops as ad stated. Alarms system with no code it wasn't fun waiting for it to time out and my new neighbors coming over to ask if everything is ok. Nice, concerned neighbors.  Apartment is not QUIET as described I work 12 hours night shift and needed quiet for sleep during the day, can hear regular conversation of my neighbor as this is typed. May try to get out of contract, very dissatisified with recomendations so far. Welcome to Gainesville :(

Sorry to hear that. All apartments in Gainesville are not like that. However to protect yourself never sign a lease without seeing the actual unit you will rent. My daughter lived at Gainesville place which of course is mostly students but it was clean, quiet, and everything worked as promised. I hope you can get out of your lease. Generally there is a glut of rentals in Gainesville so it should be a renters market.

Hi Janelle--welcome to Gainesville. It really isn't all like what you have experience so far. My family is from Buffalo--my parents go back up every summer and rent a condo on the canel. My aunt and uncle just moved down to Ocala and are now wondering why on earth it took them so long to get out--they are loving the weather.  You should be able to get out of the lease--without a charge. Be careful--some of the managers are real snakes but if you bring out the word "lawyer" and "public editorial" it does amazing things. I hope you find a better place and soon-we do have a lot of them around.

Retreat at Magnolia is very nice! I am from Grand Island, NY and I just opened a chiropractic office right off of 39th.  I love the area- beautiful and great people! Look off of  NW 51st Ave! Best of luck and welcome!!
