A place for moms to connect
I just read an article that details 8 common mistakes parents often making when using time-out as s discipline tool. The article also suggests ways to correct these mistakes. Here is a link to the article. http://thestir.cafemom.com/toddler/173414/8_timeout_mistakes_youre_...
Do you use time-outs in your home? Do you think they work, or do you think you make the mistakes suggested by the blogger?
One of the mistakes - that children actually want time-out - happened with my eldest. When she was younger, she figured sitting for a few minutes was better than cleaning up her toys. (She never likes clean up time.) So, needless to say, time-out wasn't even an option after we caught on to how she was avoiding cleaning her toys!
Other than that, time-out has been a a pretty effective tool in our home. One thing that did make time-out work ever better was setting a timer with a loud beep so that I didn't constantly have to hear, "Is time out over yet!?"
