Harn Museum of Art Cofrin Asian Art Wing Opening

Join us for a ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m. revealing the new wing and one of the Asian-inspired gardens. Activities planned throughout the day include hourly docent-led tours, a gallery talk by Cofrin Curator of Asian Art Jason Steuber at 3 p.m., displays and talks about bonsai and koi fish, a Chinese calligraphy demonstration. Family-friendly art activities include origami and creating miniature paper kimonos. Many performances will be scheduled throughout the day which includes Indian dancing and a performance of excerpts from the opera “Savitri” by vocalists and a 12-piece orchestra. This event is free and open to the public and takes place during Primavera, Gainesville's month-long celebration of culture and creativity at the height of spring in North Florida.
