Alachua County incumbents look good, according to early returns

With 53 of 69 precincts reporting, several incumbents appeared headed toward victories over their challengers during Alachua County’s primary election on Tuesday.
Property Appraiser Ed Crapo, Sheriff Sadie Darnell and School Board Member Eileen Roy were all up more than 10 percentage points over their challengers, according to the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Office.
Incumbent County Commissioner Mike Byerly had 54.2 percent of the vote to Rick Byrant’s 45.8 percent in that race’s Democratic primary.
Meanwhile, challenger Barbara Sharpe was leading incumbent School Board Member Janie S. Williams, with Sharpe netting 53.12 percent of the votes to Williams’ 46.88 percent.
